Who We Are
FreeCRM Reviews was founded in 2021 by a team of software evaluators and enterprise buyers who were frustrated by CRM review content that read like vendor brochures. Most review sites rank platforms by paid placement. Most "best of" lists reflect affiliate economics, not editorial judgment. We set out to do something different: actually test the products, document what we find, and publish without commercial influence over the results.
Since 2021, we have reviewed over 120 CRM and business software platforms, spending hands-on time in each one with representative business data and real workflows. Our research is used by procurement teams, founders, and IT directors to inform platform decisions that stick.
Editorial Policy
Our editorial scores and rankings are determined entirely by our research team, based on hands-on testing. The following policies govern everything we publish:
- No paid placement. Vendors cannot pay to appear in our rankings, receive a higher score, or be featured in our "best picks" or "editors' choice" selections. These are awarded solely on merit.
- Affiliate links are disclosed. Some links to vendor websites may be affiliate links — meaning we may receive a commission if a reader purchases through the link. These are identified clearly. Affiliate relationships do not influence editorial scores or rankings.
- Vendors do not see scores before publication. We do not submit scores for vendor review or approval before publishing. Vendors may submit factual corrections after publication, which we evaluate and apply where warranted.
- We pay for access where possible. Where practical, we purchase trial access rather than using vendor-provided accounts, to ensure we see the same product that customers see.
- Scores are updated when products change materially. Software changes. A score published in 2024 may not reflect a platform's current state. We review and update scores on a rolling basis and flag the date of last review prominently.
How We Score Platforms
Every platform is evaluated across seven dimensions, each scored independently on a 1–10 scale. Scores are averaged to produce the overall rating. The dimensions are:
- Feature Breadth — scope of modules and capabilities relative to what the platform claims to cover
- AI Capabilities — native vs. bolt-on; real utility of AI features against actual business data
- Global Readiness — language support, multi-currency, local compliance frameworks, localization depth
- Workflow Automation — depth, flexibility, and the quality of pre-built templates
- Integration / APIs — REST, GraphQL, webhooks, third-party ecosystem breadth, API documentation quality
- Security & Compliance — GDPR implementation depth, RBAC granularity, data isolation model, audit capabilities
- Value for Money — true total cost versus the alternatives it is expected to replace or integrate with
